Our Family Tradition Since 1938 | |
| Arthur J. Burch was a bank teller turned boat builder when he bought the boats at Many Glacier and Two Medicine from Cap Swanson back in 1937. He and his wife Carrie raised two children while they operated the boat tours in Glacier every summer. Their children in turn raised families in Glacier while working there every summer and building the company to its present 5 locations. Today Art's grandsons and their wives run the boats in Glacier and are raising their children there as well. | ![]() |
| The boats are part of the family, too. As you can imagine, these classic wooden boats take endless hours of work to maintain their original splendor. Scott and Mark are boatbuilders by trade - and by necessity! They have substantially rebuilt the boats over the last twenty years to maintain their beauty and bring them up to modern safety standards. Most of this work has to be done in the fall and spring in boathouses on Glacier's lakes. While the scenery is great, spring in Montana is often questionable weatherwise. Add to that the fact that most lakes are over 5000' in elevation and the boathouses are unheated and you get the picture of the amount of pride and determination it has taken for us to keep our fleet afloat. So, come on up to Glacier. Ride the boats, and visit with our family. We've been here a long time, we love this park, and we'd like to share it with you. | |
